We are basically going to restore damaged areas that according to the Brazilian law should guarantee the natural functions and services as well as be sustainable managed by the local small farmers. To do that it will be necessary to grow native trees and plants together with the small farmers in the places inside their own land that are destine by law to be permanently protected. Our goal is to turn the small farmers to be practical forest management specialists, taking care of their restored areas where an endangered ecosystem can coexist with fruits, native and growled medicinal plants, eatable roots and all that together help to retain the Greenhouse Gases even beyond the meant proportion.
All of this actions are going to be developed as an educational process focused in engage the local farmers in new economic activities related to the sustainable management of their permanent protected areas. We will help them get prepare to produce seedlings and compost that will be used in the restoration areas. These inputs will be bought from them giving direct income from the project. We will invite them to go to other places where there is sustainable agroforestry already in action managed successfully by small farmers that already accomplished their economical stability. It is all meant to bring back to life their own ability to understand nature and find sustainable ways to benefit from the living forest.
